I was privileged to join the West End family in August of 2008. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, I am a graduate of USC-Upstate, and also studied music at Appalachian State University and Gardner-Webb University. I have been involved in church music since the early age of eight when I first began playing the saxophone during worship services. I have participated in both contemporary Christian bands as well as Southern Gospel quartets and enjoy all genres of “church music.” I have also served as band director at two area Christian schools. I accepted Christ as a child and have been involved in Christian service for much of my life.
My wife Susan and I have four children: Evan, Ally, Alex, and Eli. She and I both enjoy attending our children’s various sporting events, concerts, and other activities. Our oldest children (Evan, 13, and Ally, 11) are both already very good musicians. We’re sure the younger ones (Alex, 3, and Eli, 3 months) are destined to follow suit.
My vision for West End’s music ministry is to provide a means of worship for all generations and all musical preferences. We take the phrase “blended worship” very literally. Our services incorporate music of all styles and tempos and should accommodate all age groups, from youth to seniors.
My family and I are all diehard South Carolina Gamecock and Dallas Cowboys fans, and enjoy any live sporting event…especially those where one of the children are participants.
We have been blessed to travel extensively within our own borders and coasts, but dream of trips to either Hawaii or Australia and the Great Barrier Reef one day. We love anyplace with sun and sand.
One thing most people don’t know or won’t believe about me is that I once had long hair and dressed and adorned myself like an 80’s hair-band front-man. …God sure does have a vicious sense of humor (see picture).
We are all excited about what God is doing within the West End Baptist Church music ministry and encourage all to join with us in worship.
